MochiAds Payment Threshold Reached

Well, with less than a day left to go this month, I've reached the $100 MochiAds payment threshold. This is for earnings in November and December, and means that I'll receive a payment by the end of January.

Thursday 23 December 2010

Continuing Stats for LBPST on MindJolt

So, for the first day that Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss hasn't been on the front page of MindJolt, impressions have as expected dropped sharply. Total impressions were 27,980 and earnings were $33.68. Still a decent income, but it's probably only going to continue dropping from here.

Wednesday 22 December 2010

Front Page Stats for MindJolt

So, the stats for the three days that Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss was on the front page of MindJolt are now in. There were 564,518 gameplays, 312,027 ad impressions and revenue of $426.96. This is more than Picture Find has earned in total during its time on MindJolt.

Now, to see how well it performs in the long run.

Tuesday 21 December 2010

First Days MindJolt Stats for Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss

The first days stats for Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss are now in.

There were 237,722 gameplays, but only 119,982 ad impressions which does suggest that initial viewers aren't seeing an ad for the game.

The total earned was $167.60 for this day, and the eCPM was $1.40, which is pretty good.

Now to see how well it did for the other two days it was front paged in the New Games section.

Monday 20 December 2010

Decorate Your Christmas Tree in Chrome Store

I hadn't originally planned to add it, but since Decorate Your Christmas Tree has done unexpectedly well on Newgrounds, I've added it to the Chrome app store.

Sunday 19 December 2010

Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss Live on MindJolt

I nearly forgot, but Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss was published on MindJolt today.

This is the second game I've had published on MindJolt, but this one uses MJ's new advertising platform. I'll be interested to see how well it performs; the eCPM for Picture Find on MJ using MochiAds has been $1.35 recently, about my highest.

I've heard that the first time a game is played using the new ad system, no ad is shown. This could potentially make a huge difference to the initial earnings for a game.

So far, Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss looks like it could well be doing better than Picture Find did; it already has 22 likes in one day as opposed to Picture Find which has only 10 in the over a year it's been live.

New Flash Game, Christmas Pairs

I've made another pairs game, Christmas Pairs. I hadn't originally planned to do so, because I hadn't though of any ways of improving the pairs engine (I have now, from playing some other pairs based games) so this was basically knocked up quickly using artwork designed for Decorate Your Christmas Tree.

Friday 17 December 2010

New Flash "Game"

I've made a new "game," Decorate Your Christmas Tree. It's more a dress-up/customise toy than a game; there's no objective, no score and you can't lose. Still, I felt like making a game of this type.

Tuesday 14 December 2010

Monday 13 December 2010

BannerFlux Flash Ads

I'm getting more and more irritated with MochiMedia's insistence on using their ads to drive traffic to their MochiGames portal. Unpaid, unwanted sponsorship of a competing portal for anyone using their APIs. The sheer amount of links in a game is costing traffic, and therefore money. So, I've started looking into alternatives. Unfortunately, there aren't many.

CPMStar is considered one of the best ad networks, but before you can use their ads in games you have to be approved as a publisher. Which I've been waiting on for over a year now.

So, I've made a version Castle Match 2.1 which uses BannerFlux ads and GamerSafe leaderboards. I picked GamerSafe because it also has a, very beta, bridge for posting scores to the site the game is hosted on. This version can be downloaded here and I'll probably add more games here, although only ones which use AS3.

Sunday 12 December 2010

Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss on Chrome

I've released Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss as a free app on Google's Chrome web store. I've got no real idea how it will do, and there's a $5 fee to pay before you're allowed to publish apps, but this is a one-time fee and I doubt it can hurt adding extra ways of playing games.

Thursday 9 December 2010

Kongregate Earnings for November

The total earnings from Kongregate for November were $0.13, again not very impressive.

Thursday 2 December 2010

Fizzy Earnings for November

The total from earned from Fizzy for November was $16.16, once again the highest amount earned.

Wednesday 1 December 2010

MochiAds Earnings for November

The total earned from MochiAds as a developer was $46.82, slightly up from last month, although total impressions were down. Pyramid Solitaire was the highest earner for the month, due to a substantial increase in eCPM. Picture Find was second for once, and Spooky Pairs 2 was third again, still due to Halloween related impressions.

Earnings as a publisher were $0.45, up by slightly more than 50% from the previous month, although total impressions were slightly lower.

Monday 22 November 2010

MochiAds Payment Received

I've received another payment of $122.38 from MochiAds. This is for earnings from July to October.

Saturday 6 November 2010

Kongregate Earnings For October

The total earned from Kongregate in October was $0.26, the majority of this from Spooky Pairs 2 during the few days it was present there.

Tuesday 2 November 2010

Fizzy Earnings for October

The total earned from Fizzy for October was $12.49, the highest yet. Two new games were added during October, Spooky Pairs and Spooky Pairs 2.

I still don't have final figures for September. A couple of days before the end of the month, the stats stopped updating, and after the end of the month, September's figures were never added. I contacted support, and was told it was being looked into, but haven't heard anything else yet.

This is fairly important as, going by what the last figures were from Fizzy for September that I know of, I passed the $50 payment threshold today.

Monday 1 November 2010

MochiAds Earnings for October

The total earned from MochiAds for October as a developer was $45.11, again up substantially from the previous month. Impressions were also up. Picture Find and Pyramid Solitaire were once again the highest earners, with the newly released Spooky Pairs 2 coming in third, based on the three days it's been on general release. Older releases, Spooky Pairs and Spooky Slots did well for this month.

The total earned as a publisher was $0.29, slightly up from last month as were impressions.

Friday 22 October 2010

New Game, Spooky Pairs 2

I've released a new Flash game, Spooky Pairs 2. The game is currently only available on my site, but I shall be releasing it generally shortly, and after I've made a few changes.

Thursday 21 October 2010

Second Massive Links Affiliate Payment Received

I've received my second payment from the Massive Links affiliate program, slightly under a year since I received the first. The amount received was $65, bringing the total earned to $122.50.

Tuesday 19 October 2010

V7N Affiliate Payment Received

I've received another affiliate payment of $25 from the V7N affiliate program, bringing the total up to $600.

Monday 18 October 2010

MochiAds Payment Threshold Passed

I've just passed the $100 payment threshold for MochiAds again. This will mean I should receive a payment from them for earnings from July-October by the end of November/beginning of December.

Saturday 2 October 2010

Friday 1 October 2010

MochiAds Earnings for September

The total earned as a developer from MochiAds in September was $33.67, up substantially from last month. A significant amount of the increase was from Picture Find, still the best performing game. Total developer impressions were slightly down, so the increase was due to better eCPM.

There are three games on the list with Chinese names. These are free translations into Chinese, done by Mochi, of existing games, Picture Find, Pyramid Solitaire and Space Slots. Mochi is going to distribute these games to Chinese portals, and hopefully stop said portals from taking peoples games and removing the links and advertising.

Given the low eCPM for Chinese traffic, it's unlikely that any significant income will be derived from this, but any is better than none, and the eCPM has shown an upwards trend. It's now several times higher than it used to be, which still mean this is only a couple of cents.

I intend in the future to integrate the translations into the games, rather than making new versions; however, these three games are all in ActionScript 2, and I hadn't looked into doing this in AS2, and have no intention of learning new methods in it.

Earnings as a publisher were $0.28, again significantly up from last month, although impressions weren't that much greater.

It's interesting to note though that, despite the publisher earnings having increased, Google AdSense made more on the 30th September from pages with games on than the publisher earnings for the entire month.

Wednesday 15 September 2010

Kongregate Earnings for August

Kongregate earnings for August were $0.04, which I think is my lowest ever amount from there.

Thursday 2 September 2010

Fizzy Earnings for August

Fizzy earnings for August were $10.14, up from last month. One new game was approved on Fizzy during this period, Quiz Me.

Wednesday 1 September 2010

MochiAds Earnings for August

The total earned from MochiAds for August as a developer was $20.59, again slightly down from last month. Once again, Picture Find was the highest earner.

The total earned as a developer was $0.14, with both impressions and earnings down.

Tuesday 3 August 2010

Fizzy Earnings for July

The total earned from Fizzy for July was $6.78, up from last month. There were four games active during July, with the best performance from Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss and Pyramid Solitaire.

Monday 2 August 2010

Kongregate Earnings for July

Kongregate earnings for July were $1.43, up substantially from last month. Most of this was from the release of Obama Uppy which, despite being one of my lowest rated games there, is one of the best performing - for me, anyway. It seems that most of the income I get from Kong is from the lower rated games. Go figure.

Sunday 1 August 2010

MochiAds Earnings for July

Total earned as a developer for July from MochiAds was $22.10, down slightly from last month, with Picture Find once again the highest earner. Obama Uppy did reasonably well in the short time it was publicly available, despite getting poor ratings.

Total earned as a publisher was $0.16, substantially down from last month, mostly due to performance problems on the Games Portal.

Tuesday 27 July 2010

MochiAds Payment Received

I've just received a payment from MochiAds for $114.76 for earnings in March, April, May and June 2010.

Monday 26 July 2010

Uquick Payment Received

I've received a payment of $18 from the Uquick affiliate program, bringing the total earned to $136.50.

Friday 23 July 2010

Friday 16 July 2010

New Flash Game - Constellation Slots

I've released another new Flash game, Constellation Slots, on my site. This game reuses the graphics made for Wordsearch: Constellations again.

The intent was not to create anything startlingly new, but to convert my slot machine base code from AS2 to AS3, which was accomplished. I now intend to start improving the base code with new features and gameplay.

Thursday 15 July 2010

Kongregate Earnings for June

Total earnings for Kongregate for June were $0.69, substantially up from the previous month. This was mainly due to the release of Wordsearch: Constellations and Constellation Pairs there, which between them generated $0.62. I do not expect much in the way of long term income from either game on the site though.

Tuesday 13 July 2010

eBay

I've been a member of eBay for almost 7 years now, and in most of that time I've rarely bought or sold anything. I've recently started to increase my activity, both buying and selling items on eBay, both new and second-hand.

I've recently started selling a number of Letraset items, so far ProMarkers and pads, all of which I currently use myself (I liked them so much I started selling them).

Here's a list of the items I currently have for sale. Only 102 feedback so far, but 97 of those were in the last 12 months. As I get more proficient, this should start increasing more rapidly.

Monday 12 July 2010

Constellation Pairs on Fizzy

I've added Constellation Pairs to Fizzy and it's now gone live.

Recently, Fizzy changed their revenue sharing with developers. The eCPMP for Enhanced games - which are those which have implemented the Fizzy high score API, as all my submissions do - has increased from $2.00 to $2.25, whilst the eCPMP for games not implementing the API has fallen from $0.80 to $0.50. This is in recognition of the fact that Enhanced games got more game plays than normal ones.

Saturday 10 July 2010

Fizzy Earnings for June

Total earnings from the three games on Fizzy for June was $5.56, down from last month even with one new game added.

Friday 9 July 2010

New Flash Game: Obama Uppy

I've released a new Flash game, Obama Uppy, on my site. This is a simple keepy-uppy game with purchased graphics. I'd originally planned to do a bit more with this, but it's in ActionScript 2 and, since I've stopped coding anything new in that, I decided I might as well release it as is rather than leave it on my hard drive.

Friday 2 July 2010

MochiAds Earnings for June

MochiAds earnings for June are now in. Total earned as a developer was $24.42, roughly the same as last month. Picture Find once again had the highest revenue, largely from MindJolt.

Total earned as a publisher was $0.26, up from last month, with impressions up also.

Tuesday 29 June 2010

Constellation Pairs on Kongregate

I've now added Constellation Pairs to Kongregate, although I doubt it's going to do particularly well there. It's just the wrong type of game for the site.

Sunday 20 June 2010

Constellation Pairs

I've released another matching pairs game, Constellation Pairs. This game reuses the graphics created for Wordsearch: Constellations, and features some improvements to the matching pairs engine, notably a pause feature and the centralisation of all the cards, no matter how many are on the stage.

Thursday 17 June 2010

Another myLot Payment Received

I've just received another payment of $11.39 from myLot, for earnings from June 2009 to May 2010.

Sunday 13 June 2010

MochiAds Threhold Passed

I've just passed the $100 MochiAds payment threshold again. This means I should receive a payment from them at the end of July/beginning of August.

Wednesday 9 June 2010

Wordsearch: Constellations on Fizzy

Wordsearch: Constellations is now up on Fizzy too.

When I started trying to make the multi-API score submission class, I was attempting to reduce the number of game versions needed to include various APIs. This hasn't been a total success; fixing a problem with one API tended to break another API, and Mochi's live updates didn't help either. I think the total number of versions is going to be less, but I'm going to look into breaking the class into several different classes, each designed to do part of the whole process.

Tuesday 8 June 2010

Wordsearch: Constellations on Kongregate

I've just added Wordsearch: Constellations to Kongregate, although I don't expect it to perform very well there. It's just not the type of game that tends to be popular.

Friday 4 June 2010

Fizzy earnings for May

This was the first month I've had games on Fizzy. Total earned from the two games submitted so far was $7.02 - a fairly significant amount of revenue compared to other sources for this month. The payment threshold for earnings is $50.

Thursday 3 June 2010

Kongregate Earnings for May

Total earned from Kongregate for May was $0.06 - certainly one of the lowest amounts I've ever earned. It seems that your game needs to excel to do even remotely well there nowadays.

Tuesday 1 June 2010

MochiAds Earnings for May

MochiAds earnings for May are now in. Total earned was $24.30, substantially down from last month. This is probably due to less impressions from MindJolt amongst other things, as the MindJolt impressions are typically the highest eCPM.

Total earned as a publisher was $0.20, down from last month, although impressions were up slightly.

Thursday 27 May 2010

New Flash Games, Wordearch: Constellations

I've just finished a new Flash game, Wordsearch: Constellations. This is a multi-level word search game with an animated background. It also incorporates my AS3 score submission class, which is intended to alter which score API is used depending on where the game is hosted.

This will initially just be released on my site. After that, I am going to finish testing the score submission class with all the included APIs. Then, when they're all working to my satisfaction, I will start distributing the game properly.

Wednesday 26 May 2010

MochiMedia Developer Profiles

A feature on the MochiGames website that's just been introduced is the developer fan page. Every public game on the website by a developer links to their fan page, which shows all their available games, plus allows you to become a fan of that developer. Short updates can also be posted to their fan page by developers, which will also appear in the streams of all your fans.

So, here's my fan page with my current massive number of fans, one (me).

And here's the full MochiLand post about the new feature.

Monday 24 May 2010

Pyramid Solitaire added to Fizzy

I've added my game, Pyramid Solitaire to Fizzy, integrating their API. Given that Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss has now earned over $4 there - okay, not a huge amount of money in the scheme of things, but one of the highest amounts earned from a game from one site, certainly more than any game has earned for integrating the Kongregate API - I decided to add this game also.

Probably, one of the reasons Sheep Toss has done comparatively well is that it has been front paged on Fizzy pretty much since it was released. Still, worth a try, and Pyramid Solitaire has done pretty well on Pelikone.

Sunday 23 May 2010

Flash Games Update

It's been over a year since I last gave an update for all my Flash games. Since then, I have released quite a few new games. Although I haven't had anywhere near the levels of success of the more proficient game designers, here are the earnings to date.

Also, $0.01 was earned from Newgrounds, but this wasn't allocated to any particular game.

The total earned from all games from all sources was $411.26. There was no sponsorship monies made, probably because none of the games are either good or popular enough to attract sponsors as yet. I have a few mostly made games that I'm going to finish before starting work on some, hopefully, more popular games.

Tuesday 11 May 2010

V7N Payment Received

It's been a long time since the last affiliate payment, from the V7N program, but I've just received another $75. This makes a total of $525 received to date.

Monday 10 May 2010

Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss on Fizzy

I've added my game, Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss to Fizzy.

Fizzy is a large game portal that shares revenue with developers who upload games. By adding their Game Loading System to your game, you will show ads on behalf of Fizzy - and these ads have a decent eCPM too. Your game can also be enhanced to make use of the Fizzy score submission, amongst other features, and can also be distributed to other sites, although the game is always loaded on Fizzy (which is going to be useful when I get my AS3 score submission class finished, which decides which score system to use depending on domain). Plus, you can show MochiAds also.

Thursday 6 May 2010

myLot Payment Threshold Passed

I've just passed the $10 payment threshold for myLot again, so I'll receive a payment from them on or before June 15th. It's been quite some time since my last payment due to the fact that both I and my referrals have been substantially less active.

Tuesday 4 May 2010

Kongregate Earnings for April

Total earnings from Kongregate for April were $0.19. Even though Easter Egg Match 2 was released here during April, revenues from it were pretty small.

Monday 3 May 2010

MochiAds Earnings for April

MochiAds earnings for April as a developer were $33.06, slightly up from last month. Highest earner again was Picture Find, although down substantially from last month, due to lower MindJolt impressions. Easter Egg Slots and Easter Egg Match 2 were the two next best games, both recent releases.

Total earned as a publisher was $0.23, up slightly from last month, as were total impressions.

Saturday 1 May 2010

MochiAds Publisher Revenue Compared to AdSense

For hosting MochiAds games on their sites, publishers get a small fraction (10%) of the games' advertising earnings from impressions and clicks generated from their site.

Now, it has been stated on a number of occasions that publishers shouldn't depend on this for revenue, but should use other income sources. So, here's a rough comparison between AdSense and Mochi publisher revenue.

Games Portal: The games detail pages, which are the way guests play Flash games here, have a couple of AdSense ads on them. In the about 6 weeks or so they've been active, AdSense revenue has nearly equaled the total publisher revenue for the past 19 months.

Planet of Zombies: Both AdSense and Mochi publisher earnings started at the same time. In this period, AdSense earnings have been several hundred times the earnings from Mochi as a publisher.

The Flash Games Site has too few MochiAds games to make a realistic comparison, and has also swapped between AdBrite, AdSense and BidVertiser.

So, I would say that monetising your sites through other advertising networks as a publisher will make a substantial difference.

Friday 30 April 2010

Article Directory Sitemap

As I mentioned yesterday, I have now added a text file sitemap to my Article Directory. This was harder than anticipated due to all the rewrite rules being in encrypted files, so I basically had to guess them. I've submitted it to Google webmaster tools, so hopefully any errors will show up there.

The pages I've added to the sitemap are Profile pages, Category pages - although, as with the web directory, I think modifications will need to be made for categories with multiple pages - and the Article pages.

EDIT: Okay, after submitting it to Google, one problem has cropped up - too many URLs. It seems you can only have a maximum of 50,000 URLs in one sitemap. I've modified the generator so that it now makes two sitemaps - the original one which holds articles and categories, and a second sitemap that holds profiles.

New sitemaps

I've managed to make a text file sitemap generator, which admittedly currently needs running manually every time I want to update it, at least until I get the permissions sorted out, at which point I'll do it by cron job instead. This has some advantages over the dynamically created ones. For instance, one the file is updated, no further usage is put on the database.

Currently, I've added three to my main site:

DirectoryGold Sitemap: This lists the details and category pages of the web directory, although as yet not the additional pages some categories require.

Flash Games Sitemap: This is a listing of all the game pages of the currently active Flash games on the games portal. I'll probably add the categories to it also, then look into adding other parts.

ScriptsGold Resource Repository Sitemap: This lists all category and details pages for the resource repository.

One area I haven't done yet that needs doing is the Article Directory. Given the different types of pages and complicated mod_rewrite instructions, this will take a bit longer.

Another possibility is to also to use this to create an HTML page with actual live links to the pages also.

Uquick Payment Received

I've received a payment of $9 from the Uquick affiliate program. Total earned is now $118.50.

MochiAds Payment Received

I have received a payment of $110.87 from MochiAds for earnings in December, January and February.

Kongregate Earnings for March

The total earned from Kongregate for March was $0.35, down slightly from last month and mostly from Easter Egg Slots which was released near the end of the month.

As I mentioned last month, it is getting harder and harder to earn money unless the game is fantastic. Easter Egg Match 2 is now well off the first page of newest games, and is still under judgement. It looks like it will now take some time to

MochiAds Earnings for March

Total earned as a developer from MochiAds was $32.06, up substantially from February. Picture Find is still generating the highest revenue, still followed by Pyramid Solitaire, and in third place this month was Spooky Slots.

Total earned as a publisher was $0.22, also up from February, although overall impressions were down.

Games Portal Games Pages SEO Friendly

I've used mod_rewrite to make the Games Portal Games Pages SEO friendly, so instead of a page URL being something like:
http://games.directorygold.com/arcade.php?mode=game&id=7548&win=self

they're
http://games.directorygold.com/play/7548/Easter_Egg_Match_2

I've looked into using mod_rewrite before, but never been able to work out properly how to do it. In fact, the last time I paid someone to do it for my Resource Repository. This time, using the alterations done to that as a reference and a number of tutorials found online, I was finally able to work it out.

Friday 26 March 2010

Easter Egg Match 2

I've released another new Flash game, Easter Egg Match 2. This is a sequel to Easter Egg Match, but is a multi-level game, with the number of cards increasing with each level.

Flash Game RSS and Twitter Feeds

I've added an RSS feed for the latest Flash games on my games portal, and added a Twitter account for this also, which uses Twitter Feed to get games published to the feed.

Tuesday 16 March 2010

Games Portal Game Pages

As part of ongoing improvements at my Games Portal, I added individual game pages to the Flash Arcade, such as the one posted previously for Easter Egg Slots. These pages are intended to combine all aspects of any particular game hosted, such as details, comments, rating, highscores, bookmarking. Currently under development, the URLs are less than wonderful from an SEO viewpoint, being dynamic, and I haven't yet added any ability to post comments or rate games directly from the pages. I plan to add AJAX so that some of these functions can be carried out without reloading the page.

Easter Egg Slots

Easter Egg Slots is a new Flash game I've made. It's another slot machine game as these seem to be oddly popular. This time, I've released it first on my games portal, and I'll wait about a week before putting it into wider distribution. This way, a new game should show up on my site first before appearing on any others, which will hopefully be better for it in the search engines.

Kongregate Earnings for February

Total earnings from Kongregate for February were $0.39, the majority of this from Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss. It appears to be getting harder to earn from games released here unless they rank well.

Monday 1 March 2010

MochiAds Earnings for February

Total earned as a developer from MochiAds in February was $24.88, down from January. Picture Find and Pyramid Solitaire were still the best earners, with Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss next. Poor eCPM for many games brought earnings down.

Earnings as a publisher were $0.17, the same as in January, although impressions were up a fair bit.

TitanClicks Gone

Well, it looks like TitanClicks is yet another Paid to Click website that has fallen by the wayside. So far, only NeoBux has actually paid.

MochiAds Payment Threshold Passed

I've just passed the $100 MochiAds payment threshold, which means I should receive a payment from them around the end of March. It took about 2 1/2 months since the last payment to reach payout this time, although earnings have decreased quite a bit since December.

Initial Facebook Ad Update

Well, my first Facebook ad only generated five clicks and no sales. Given that I made an ad with only about a day or so left of useful time, with no picture, I can't really say I'm surprised by the level of response.

Next time, I'll need to take a bit longer creating it, and make sure I don't release a holiday related ad only about a day before the actual holiday.

Saturday 13 February 2010

Article Directory Twitter Feed

I've added a Twitter account for my article directory. This is tweeting from the directory's RSS feed, although I admit I'm not sure what logic it's using. Supposedly, it should be posting the most recent feed every hour but, so far, only one tweet has been published, and that isn't the most recent. Decidedly odd.

Friday 12 February 2010

Facebook Advertising

I've been registered at Facebook for some time, and recently started using it more - I've posted about a couple of very basic apps I made (Quiz Me and Picture Find) - but until now I've never considered using the advertising available on it. After receiving an email I decided to check it out, because I haven't been very happy with performance from AdWords.

I'm going to try and run a brief campaign for Valentine's Day Recipes if it's approved; however, it's already apparent that the targeting here is vastly more specific than is available from AdWords.

Areas you can target are:
Country
Age - from a specific year to an age range to all
Birthday - only promote to people on their birthdays
Gender
Relationship status
Language - even broken up into different dialects
Keywords
Education
Interested in
Connections - what Facebook connections they have, either targeted for having those connections, or not having them
Friends of connections

Once these are entered, you will see how many possible people the ad could be shown to. This campaign targets an estimated 10,840 people.

You can then either have CPC or CPM ads, with or without an image, set a maximum bid and a maximum daily spend. Plus you can have it running for a specific period of time, down to the hour.

All in all, this looks like it could be a vastly more accurate method of promotion than AdWords.

Tuesday 2 February 2010

Kongregate Earnings for January

Kongregate earnings for January are now in. Total earned was $0.80, the majority of this coming from Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss which was released at the end of the month. Unfortunately, it did not rate as highly as hoped.

Monday 1 February 2010

MochiAds Earnings for January

Total earned from MochiAds from January was $33.70 as a developer, down again from last month. Picture Find is still doing reasonably well on MindJolt, and Pyramid Solitaire was the next biggest earner again. The recently released Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss has had one of the better (for me) initial launches. I'm trying the Inter-level Ads in this game - they appear after a score has been submitted, but have can only appear once in a specified amount of time, I believe 5 minutes, which should stop them from becoming too annoying.

Publisher earnings were down substantially, to $0.17, with impressions down as well.

Sunday 31 January 2010

Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss on Kongregate

My latest Flash game, Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss, done for a game competition at MochiAds, has been released on Kongregate. This is a nursery rhyme themed game, where the object is for Little Bo Peep to throw her sheep as far as possible.

Friday 29 January 2010

Twitter Added to Web Directory

I've added Twitter to my Web Directory. Nothing special, just the RSS feed of latest added sites that's then posted to Twitter by Twitter Feed. Twitter seems to be one of the in things these days, so I thought I'd try using it for something. Now, to look into adding it to the games sites to tweet latest added games.

Monday 4 January 2010

Kongregate Earnings for December

Kongregate earnings for December were only $0.18, much lower than in previous months. It appears harder for a new game to do well, unless it's so brilliant it does well immediately.

Friday 1 January 2010

MochiAds Earnings for December

MochiAds earnings for December are now in. Total earned as a developer $51.62, down from last month as Picture Find is no longer on the front page of MindJolt - it only stayed there for a few days anyway. It's still generating revenue though. Pyramid Solitaire was the next biggest earner in terms of both impressions and revenue, although the eCPM was much lower than for Picture Find, so it earned a lot less. Similarly, Easter Egg Match had quite a few impressions, but because of an even worse eCPM was substantially outperformed by games with far fewer impressions.

Publisher earnings were up again slightly (about 10%, but that's only $0.03) at $0.31.
