Blog Moved

All the blog posts, comments and images have now been transferred to my WordPress site. All new blog posts will be here, although I will still leave this blog in place.

Redoing Corporate Site and Blog Move

I've finally got around to starting to update my corporate site here. I've decided to go with WordPress as the underlying software for the site. There are so many plugins available that it can be reconfigured any way wanted. I've also moved the web host from Host4Profit to HostGator.

Host4Profit is the oldest of my current web hosts, and the most expensive, so I finally got around to moving.

Once the site is up and running, I'm going to import all the posts from here and continue with new ones on the WordPress site. I'll leave this blog up and running, although nothing new will be added.

New Flash Game

I've released another Flash game I've been working on for a while, Captive Queens. This is a solitaire game.

Actual Earnings for February

This is money that was actually received during February, not just theoretical future earnings.

eBay Earnings:

Profit: -£2.00

This was actually a loss this month, because I didn't sell any items for profit, only some personal items which aren't included. Due to poor performance in January, however, I didn't start re-listing items until almost the end of the month, so many of the expenses listed are for items that are still running.

I did reach Top Rated Seller during February, which, unlike Power Seller, is displayed in the listings.

Flash Earnings:

MindJolt: $558.47

Web Directory Advertising:

This is after deducting PayPal fees.

DirectoryGold.com: $103.88

Total Earnings for February:

-£2.00 and $662.35

MindJolt Earnings for February

The total earned from MindJolt for February was $18.14.

This now includes a small earning from Picture Find, which had to migrate to MindJolt's ad API at the end of the month. Unless the performance of this API significantly improves, this will result in lower overall earnings.

New Flash Game

Not that new as it's been sitting on my computer mostly done for about a year and a half, but I've finally released Picture Find 2: Landscapes. This is pretty much the last AS2 game I had done, which is why it's been sitting around for so long, because I've since been programming in AS3. The only other incomplete game I'm probably going to port to AS3, as it isn't working properly anyway.

Kongregate Earnings for February

The earnings from Kongregate for February were $0.06, once again pretty pitiful.

Even though Christmas Pairs finally came out of judgement with a "Good Game" (over 2.50) rating of 2.77, it still hasn't achieved much.

Monday 7 March 2011

Fizzy Earnings for February

The total earned from Fizzy for February was $7.35, the lowest for quite some time.

I still haven't received the affiliate payment yet, although I have contacted them and they've apologised for the delay. My payment status is still showing as incomplete though.

Friday 4 March 2011

MochiAds Earnings for February

The total earned as a developer from MochiAds for February was $28.26, again down from the previous month. Impressions were substantially decreased from the previous month. Once again, Pyramid Solitaire was the highest earner, followed by Picture Find. From this point on, however, the total earned by Picture Find from MochiAds will be substantially lower, as it has now had to convert over to MindJolt's new ad API, which is where most of its' revenue was coming from.

Earnings as a publisher were $0.44, down substantially, although impressions here had also decreased.

Tuesday 1 March 2011

MindJolt Payment Received

I've received a payment from MindJolt for $558.47. This is for earnings from December, and the first payment received from their new ad program.

Unfortunately, I would by my estimates have received at least a couple of hundred dollars more using MochiAds, due to the poorer eCPM and deliberate skips from the MindJolt ads.

Actual Earnings for January

This is money that was actually received during January, not just theoretical future earnings.

Affiliate Earnings:

myLot: $10.68
Google AdSense : £97.00

eBay Earnings:

Profit: £20.61

These are after deducting PayPal fees, eBay fees, post & packing fees and stock cost.

On the plus side, I reached Bronze PowerSeller status in January. On the minus side, this doesn't show up anywhere, and you can't use the logo or mention it at all on eBay. So the only thing it's good for currently is the discount.

Flash Earnings:

MochiAds: $101.31

Web Directory Advertising:

This is after deducting PayPal fees.

DirectoryGold.com: $135.50

Total Earnings for January:

£117.61 and $261.53

Tuesday 8 February 2011

MindJolt Earnings for January

The total earned from MindJolt in January was $42.87, substantially down from last month as expected.

Performance has been less than spectacular. The eCPM for MindJolt's adverts is substantially lower than that for MochiAd's on MindJolt. Combined with the huge percentage of deliberately skipped ads - about 41% in December and 25% in January - and total performance was substantially below what would have been expected if MochiAds had been shown.

Monday 7 February 2011

Kongregate Earnings for January

Another typically poor month from Kongregate with only $0.10 earned. Unless a game that actually appeals to Kongregate players is added there, it's going to take a long time to make the last $6 required for payout.

Friday 4 February 2011

Fizzy Earnings for January

The total earned from Fizzy for January was $11.43, down a bit from previous months.

Tuesday 1 February 2011

MochiAds Earnings for January

The total earned from MochiAds as a developer for January was $38.38, down quite a bit from the previous month, even though impressions were up very slightly. eCPM was down quite a bit which accounted for the drop in income, probably because of the typical drop in most advertising budgets in this part of the year. Pyramid Solitaire was the highest earner, followed by Picture Find.

The total earned as a publisher was $0.76, up from the previous month which was due to a large increase in impressions, rather than eCPM.

Monday 31 January 2011

MochiAds Payment Received

I've received another payment of $101.31 from MochiAds, for earnings from November and December.

Monday 17 January 2011

Actual Earnings for December

This is money that was actually received during December, not just theoretical future earnings.

Affiliate Earnings:

Google AdSense: £184.27 - This is actually two months revenue

Flash Earnings:

Sitelocks: $250

eBay Earnings:

Profit: £47.67 approx

These are after deducting PayPal fees, eBay fees, post & packing fees and stock cost. Packaging has a bit of a fudge factor, but is probably reasonable accurate.

The profit is a bit disappointing considering the amount of sales made - getting up for £600 excluding p&p charged. eBay made more than I did, and PayPal fees weren't far behind.

Web Directory Advertising:

This is after deducting PayPal fees.

DirectoryGold: $673.88 - Unusually high, probably won't be maintained

Total Earnings:

£231.94 and $923.88

Friday 14 January 2011

myLot Payment Received

Despite the fact that I've barely been active on myLot in some time, I've just received another payment of $10.68 from them. Mostly from referral earnings.

This is for earnings from June to December 2010.

Tuesday 4 January 2011

MindJolt Earnings for December

The total earned from MindJolt during December was $558.44.

This was the first month I've had direct earnings from MindJolt, and the first month that Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss was live there, which meant it earned a lot more than it will most likely do from now on. Earnings are currently less than $2/day, down from the initial $100+ from the first three days. Admittedly, this is a higher daily income than any game is making elsewhere.

Sunday 2 January 2011

Kongregate Earnings for December

The total earned from Kongregate for December was $0.32. Most of this was from Christmas Pairs; however, well over a week since it was released, it still hasn't received enough votes to come out of judgement, so it may well take a very long time to do so, if ever.

Saturday 1 January 2011

MochiAds Earnings for December

The total earned from MochiAds as a developer for December was $53.39, up from last month. Impressions were also up by over 10,000. Two new games were released, Decorate Your Christmas Tree and Christmas Pairs, which accounted for the increase. The highest earner was Picture Find, with Little Bo Peep's Sheep Toss coming in second.

The total earnings as a publisher were $0.65, up substantially from last month, with impressions up also.
